The Vehicle Electrification Fund Africa (VEFA) aims to scale-up implementation of infrastructure projects that provide operators of goods and passenger-transport fleets with electric vehicles and vehicle-charging solutions, as-a-service
What types of projects do we invest in?
We invest in projects with the following characteristics:
- The project enables owners and operators of commercial fleets (such as buses, trucks, taxis) to reduce or avoid emissions by the adoption of cleaner technologies. This could include the purchase of plug-in electric or hydrogen vehicles, the retrofitting of existing vehicles, and the installation of charging infrastructure
- The project has a high climate and health impact potential, and a measurable impact at city and regional levels
- The project aligns with our investment principles, and our environmental management systems
- The project is expected to provide attractive financial return
At least 60% of our fund is expected to finance projects in Southern and Sub-Saharan Africa, with the balance being deployed in OECD countries.
