An all-star line-up of vehicle manufacturers, technology and infrastructure providers have signed a coalition statement certifying their joint commitment to slashing greenhouse gas emissions in the European transport and logistics industry by 90 per cent within the next 30 years, through the widespread adoption of hydrogen fuel cell trucks.
While hydrogen trucks and hydrogen refuelling stations are already being introduced today, signatories foresee that up to 100,000 hydrogen-powered trucks and 1,500 stations will be deployed by 2030.
The Coalition includes the likes of Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, HYZON Motors, Ballard, Michelin, Total, Engie, Shell and BMW Group to name a few, and covers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), fuel cell and hydrogen technology providers, refuelling infrastructure and hydrogen providers, truck operators, road freight services users and related industry associations.
Today, all actors in the industry recognise the role that hydrogen-powered trucks will play in the decarbonisation of the transport sector: the supply side, the infrastructure and hydrogen players working to make clean hydrogen affordable, the logistics sector, and the end-users of the technology.
