Challenges

Fleet operators are increasingly interested in converting to electric vehicles, but face the dual challenge of lack of know-how to design a project that enables the lowest risk implementation, and the lack of the financial means to finance the transition.

Services provided

The project involves the preparation of a feasibility study and implementation of a pilot project that will demonstrate a financing model that will provide electric vehicles and energy as-a-service to fleet operators. The pilot will finance and deploy an initial fleet of up to 35 electric motorbikes for the exclusive use of a last-mile delivery company operating in Kenya.

Outcome

Successful deployment will prepare the market for replication and scale, ultimately enabling an existing value chain of project developers, engineering (EPC) companies and investors to scale deployment of electric vehicles across the continent.
